Farms in the Dominican Republic are generally small, averaging less than 3 hectares, and although much of the coffee is organically grown.

This coffee comes from the Barahona region, located along the southwestern shores of the Caribbean Sea in the Dominican Republic. In this unique coffee-growing region, at altitudes ranging from 600 to 1,100 meters above sea level, some of the finest coffees in the country are cultivated. In Barahona, 12,000 hectares of coffee are currently grown across 4 municipalities, involving 2,600 farmers.

The island's extreme diversity of microclimates, topography, and constant humidity conditions means that coffee is harvested almost all year round, although the main harvest period runs from November to May, peaking in April, coinciding with Semana Santa (Holy Week).
